CSS (Cascading Style Sheets) Coder - allows you to create CSS (cascading style sheets) for your web site for things such as buttons, text, and menus. Dropdown Menu Tool - allows you to easily create your own dropdown menus for your website. EditPlus - A great for creating and editing tons of different types of files such as HTML, JavaScript, Perl, PHP, and more. The program color codes syntax to make development easier. I like to format my code using indenting to make it easier to read. For example, I would write some HTML code as: <table border="0" width="600"> <tr> <td width="350" valign="middle" align="right"> <b>TEXT</b> </td> </tr> </table> Unfortunately, this type of formatting can become a pain if you add something causing everything below it to need indenting. It can take a lot of time to manually space all the lines below that area. Luckily, EditPlus makes it easy by having a function that will let you select a bunch of text and then hit indent. THIS HAS SAVED ME A TON OF TIME AND TIME IS MONEY! They offer a 30 day evaluation trial version. Firefox - It took me a long time to give FireFox a try but now I am so glad I did. It isn’t so much FireFox itself that is great for web development, but the fact that Firefox has a number of extensions that you can install for different web development tasks. It is an excellent, free tool to aid in the design and development of your website. A side benefit is that it's a great browser. NOTE: You still need to check your web sites in Internet Explorer as it is still the most widely used browser and things sometimes appear differently between IE and Firefox. Firefox IE View - It is a fact that Internet Explorer is the most widely used web browser. So, it is important to check any new or changed web pages in Internet Explorer. This extension makes checking or using a web page in Internet Explorer just a right-click away. Requires Firefox. Firefox Web Developer - This extension has so many features that I haven’t used many of them yet. One of the features that I like is the resize button that lets me see what my web site would look like on different monitor resolutions. Another feature that I like is the “Show Passwords” button. There have been numerous times where I login to a web site using a username and password that has been saved into the browser. However, the password shows up as *****. I may need to know what that password is because I may have forgotten to put that password in a password file that I keep. With this extension feature, I can just hit “Show Passwords” and find out the password. Another feature I like is that you can outline a bunch of different elements of your web page. For example, I can tell the extension to outline all the different tables on my web page. This is helpful in showing you layout problems. But, there are so many more features contained within this extension that make installing it a must. Requires Firefox. Floating Layer Tool - allows you to easily create a floating layer that can be used like a popup window, avoiding popup blocker problems. Meta Tag Generator - allows you to easily create meta tags to include in your web site code. Meta tags contain information about your website (title, description, and keywords) and are placed in the section of your website. Meta tags are used by some search engines to determine what your web site is about. MovableType - Excellent blog publishing software that allows you to setup your blog on your own website with minimal work on your end. You can get a 30-day free trial on any of the paid versions that include more features or you can sign up for the free personal edition. Popup Window Generator - allows you to easily create links that popup in customized windows. By using the tool, you are able to control which menus and buttons should be present, as well as the positioning of the new window. Source Code Viewer - is a simple, yet powerful for viewing and analyzing HTML code in-depth. This tool allows you to see the HTML code for any web page on the Internet. SpamCheck Report - gives your newsletter a "spam score" to keep it from being flagged by spam filters. Whois Tool - is a domain search tool will give you the details for any exisiting, registered domain name.
